The pattern pieces
Three patterns, six pieces to cut. Each piece is labelled on the print with its name, its leather thickness and how many to cut.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Panel | 100 × 72 mm | 3.94 × 2.83 in | 1.2 mm | 2 | 74 |
| Pocket 1 | 100 × 38 mm | 3.94 × 1.50 in | 0.8 mm | 2 | 16 |

How the card holder is built
A back panel and a front panel with the centre pocket between them, and two stepped card pockets on the outside of each. Everything is stitched together down both sides and along the bottom, and the top stays open.
The front pocket on each side is a full piece. The pocket behind it is cut in a V below the band that shows, so the seams stay thin where the layers pile up. The flat bottom of the V is stitched to the panel, and the card behind it rests on that row, so it stands as far out of its pocket as the card in front.
Print it at full size
One page on A4 or US Letter, every part whole on its page. Print at 100 % (“actual size”), not “fit to page”. The first page has a 50 mm square: measure it before you cut anything. If it is off, see how to print leather patterns to scale at home.
The stitch holes are spaced 3.38 mm. For hole counts along any seam at that spacing, see the 3.38 mm stitch spacing chart.
Make it your own in the Builder
The PDF is this pattern exactly as you see it. The Builder is where it becomes yours: change a number, and the pattern, the 3D view and the parts list follow.
- Size. Drag the edges of the drawing, or type the width and height.
- Pockets. Add or remove them on each side, change how far they step, give one pocket its own height or a thumb cut-out.
- Stitching. Pick a diamond, French slit or round chisel and its spacing. The holes still line up through every layer.
- Leather. Set the thickness and colour of each part and see the wallet in 3D, with a card in every slot.
Start from this card holder and change what you like. It opens as your own copy, with nothing to install.
Common questions
What size is the finished card holder?
100 × 72 mm closed (3.94 × 2.83 in). The corners are rounded 5 mm. Every one of these is a number you can change in the Builder.
How many cards does it hold?
It has four card slots, each taking a standard 85.6 × 54 mm card lying across, and a centre pocket. In the Builder you can add or remove pockets on each side, and its 3D view puts a card in every slot so you see how far each one shows.
What leather thickness is the pattern for?
It is drawn for 1.2 mm and 0.8 mm leather: the thicker for the panels, the thinner for the pockets. The pattern itself does not change with the thickness; the Builder's 3D view does.
What stitch spacing does it use?
3.38 mm between holes, 276 holes in all, set for a diamond chisel. The holes of every piece land on the holes of the piece under it. In the Builder you can pick another chisel, French slit or round, and another spacing.
Is it free, and do I need an account?
It is free and needs no account. The PDF downloads from this page, and the Builder keeps what you change in your browser. A free account keeps your designs on every device you sign in on.
